Contact with industry- Amelia's magazine.

I have been aware of Amelia's Magazine for a few years now and it seems like a great opportunity to get some of my work out there and be viewed in context amongst other working illustrators. Names such as Rob Ryan and Emma block have contributed to the magazines.

I emailed Amelia herself on the 19th of April completely unaware of the fact she was in hospital with her newborn child!! (There is a beautiful photograph of her and her baby bump up on the homepage of the Amelia's Magazine Website now.) I was amazed to get this reply;

"Hi Jadine

I am currently in hospital with my newborn and so don't really have time. Can I suggest you start contributing to the website when I am back up and running as I am more likely to find time to answer student questions from contributors. Thanks!
Amelia"

I really appreciate Amelia emailing me back when she must be really busy right now, but I guess that just shows her dedication to her job. The magazine's she produces offer open briefs for illustrators, the most successful ones are published in to a themed magazine to be viewed as a collection.

I am definitely going to start contributing to the website in the near future and hopefully I will get some of my work published in a magazine, I know that a student in her final year at Stockport has managed to do so already.
