Hattie Newman

I was searching for some inspiration when working on the 2050 museum (previous posts), and came across Hattie Newman who is a fantastic paper/card sculptor. It is great to see someone make something out of nothing, I can't imagine that I would look at a few sheets of paper and think 'hey, I'll make a miniature playground'. However, after seeing what I was able to produce when creating a museum mostly of card, I may just see if I can continue to make more refined 3d sculptures.

Newman's work is often built up as a scene with many layers, that then comes to life when photographed as on piece.

Her work can also be interactive, with sections of a sculpture that have movement or perhaps a page in a book that can fold out and morph into something else. A perfect example of this aspect of her work is her film collaboration with 3AngryMen for the NSPCC.
