David golding, vice principal at the college has said,
“We consider this a harsh way to deal with organisations we considered as partners. We are already talking to alternative providers and other universities who see the benefits of having a partnership. We think the decision of John Moores University is very short sighted. It looks as if they were unhappy we intended to charge lower fees, £6,000 when they have set their fees at £9,000. Their concern is we present competition.”

Many people would choose to go to Stockport college due to the lower prices this is true, but would that really cause a problem for LMJU? When I enrolled at the college for my first year of studies, their was already a price difference and yet both institutions were thriving. The college has managed to outshine top universities in term of students satisfaction with their courses, showing a percentage of 91% of students being happy with the teaching, compared to the national average of 87%.
LJMU should be proud to hold a partnership with Stockport college, not be in fear of the competition!
